The L-P District is now registered as a member of the SaferOH tip line. This free service for public and private schools allows a way for a student, parent, educator or other concerned adult to anonymously report concerns regarding a threat to school and student safety - whether it be a potential incident of mass violence, a suicide threat, a threat to an educator, or the bullying of a single student.
School-related threats are often not reported because of fears of retaliation. In 81% of school violence incidents, someone knew about the attack before it occurred - and in 93% of those cases, that person was a sibling, schoolmate or friend.*
Available 24 hours a day, trained professionals at Ohio Homeland Security's Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) unit answer all calls and texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764). The call center guarantees the anonymity of the person who calls or texts. Phone numbers are not tracked.
When action is needed, TAP staff immediately forward information to school administration. If warranted, local law enforcement will be notified. Tip line staff will also follow up quickly with the affected school and law enforcement agencies to make sure the incident was investigated and the outcome was tracked.
