An apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a trade professional.  Check out the information below to learn more about apprenticeships for carpentry, electrical construction, operating engineers (construction of roads, bridges and dams), and plumbers. Check with a guidance counselor to see if an apprenticeship is right for you.
Ohio Department of Job and Family Services
Click HERE for a list of more than 1,100 registered apprenticeship programs in fields including aerospace, construction energy, health care, manufacturing and utilities. Each program includes on-the-job training and related technical instruction.
Ohio Carpenters' Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program
Click HERE for information about one of the top carpenter apprenticeship programs in the nation. More than 1,500 apprentices are enrolled in  four-year programs, offered at no cost to the apprentice. A joint committee made up of union members and signatory contractors oversee the apprenticeship program.
Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship and Training Program
Click HERE to find out more about becoming a trained operator who is able to build roads, bridges, and dams as well as assist in construction of large buildings and other structure. There are two general classifications: Operating Equipment used in construction such as bulldozers, backhoes, pavers and cranes; and Repairing Earth-Moving Equipment used in the bjuilding of roads, bridges, dams and large buildings.

Ohio Sheet Metal Workers Apprenticeship
Click HERE to find out about training in one of the most varied and diversified of all the skilled trades. Those trained in this area are able to work with metal to construct many different things including buildings, roofing, air ducts and outdoor signs. They also perform all types of welding on all types of materials.
Mansfield Area Electrical Apprenticeship

FirstEnergy Power Systems Institute Line Worker & Substation Electrician Programs
FirstEnergy is offering graduating seniors a chance to be part of a two-year program that prepares students for a job in the electric utility industry. Upon successful completion of the selection process, students will receive both hands-on training and classroom instruction. Ohio HigherEd Apprenticeship Pathways
The Apprenticeship Pathways initiative provides a way for those completing apprenticeships to incorporate this experience into academic credit toward a technical associate's degree at Ohio's two-year public colleges. Click HERE for more information.
