LHS ROBOTICS 2015 - 2016

LHS Robotics, 2015-2016: First-Year Recap

For the first time in school history, LHS had students formally competing in robotic competitions. Team 598A (Joshua, Max, Coleton and Tristan) and Team 598B (Jacob, Cole, Cody, and Caleb) represented LHS at seven tournaments with both teams spending countless hours sketching, designing, measuring, building, testing and tweaking their competition bots. Their hard work combined with total team efforts were the secrets to their success. Both teams were advised by teacher Josh Miller.

After their bot was judged by a panel of engineers as the best designed entry at the Shelby Amtec Vex Robotics Competition, Team 598A earned a place at the U.S. Open Championship. This team was also the overall champion at the Cincinnati Great Oaks Competition giving them an automatic slot at state competition where they were named runner-up. The runner-up designation then earned the boys a place at the 2016 Vex WORLDS Championship, a remarkable achievement for the program's inaugural year!

The L-P School District appreciates the following sponsors who have generously given their financial support to the high school robotics program: The Hugo and Mabel Young Foundation, Cowen Truck Line, Danners Pharmacy, Dometic, Farmers Bank, H&H Custom Homes, Lindsey Funeral Home, Luk USA LLC, Mansfield Plumbing Products, Matco Tools, Modern Home Supply, Stake's IGA, Trails End and Truax Printing. Numerous individual donors have also contributed financial support to the program.
