Learning STEM Concepts with Dragsters

Eighth graders in Mr. Bitner's  course, Automation & Robotics, have learned firsthand a fast car is not an accident. Incorporating STEM concepts learned in class, students designed and built drag racers with their intial task being to build a car that would travel as fast as possible for at least 20 feet. In the photos below, the assignment was to travel the shortest distance in two minutes. Students then calculated the speed of their drag racer in inches per second, feet per second, and miles per hour.
