Congratulations to Coleton, Joshua, Tristan and Max - Team 598A - for qualifying for STATE competition at the VEX Robotics Championship held January 30th in Cincinnati. Teams entered in the competition designed innovative robots using the VEX Robotics Design System to score the most points possible in qualification matches, elimination matches and skills challenges. This win cements an appearance at the Ohio VEX Robotics High School State Championship to be held March 4th and 5th at Harding High School in Marion. The team also won two other awards at the Cincinnati tournament: The Award of Excellence and The Programming and Skills Award.
Previously at the AMTEC Shelby VEX Robotics Championship, a panel of professional engineers judged their robot as the best designed entry. This award qualifies the team for the US Open Competition to be held in Iowa in April where they will compete against other high school teams from across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The L-P School District appreciates the following sponsors who have generously given their financial support to the high school robotics program: The Hugo and Mabel Young Foundation, Cowen Truck Line, Danners Pharmacy, Dometic, Farmers Bank, H&H Custom Homes, Lindsey Funeral Home, Luk USA, Mansfield Plumbing Products, Matco Tools, Modern Home Supply, Stake's IGA, Trails End and Truax Printing.
The boys are advised by science teacher Josh Miller. See the winners and their winning design below. A short video of this year's competition game, "Nothing But Net," follows.
