Our McMullen Redbirds had a pretty sweet surprise this afternoon! Thanks to our amazing McMullen Parents Association, the Lavender Spoon stopped by to serve our students delicious snow cones!

After some especially warm days over the past couple of weeks, this was the perfect way to cool down, enjoy a treat, and put some smiles on our students’ faces!

We are incredibly thankful for our Parents Association and the many ways they continue to support our students and make McMullen such a special place to learn and grow. Your generosity means so much to our Redbird family!

A huge THANK YOU to Stake’s IGA for generously donating popsicles for our students at McMullen Elementary! With this warm week at school, our students were thrilled to enjoy a cool treat and take a little break from the heat. Their generosity helped make their day a little sweeter! We are so grateful for the continued support of our local community and businesses. Thank you, Stake’s IGA, for thinking of our Redbirds!

Thank you very much to Growth and Giving Director Amy Heller for speaking with McMullen students yesterday about Scouting America. Scouting America will be at McMullen tonight for Join Scout Night in the cafeteria at 6:30pm. Also, thank you to Scouting America for donating book bags to McMullen for students!

🇺🇸 Raising the Flag, Raising the Bar! 🇺🇸 Today, McMullen Elementary proudly held our Flag Raising Ceremony to officially kick off the 2026–27 school year! Our students and staff gathered together to honor our flag, recognize the values it represents, and begin a new school year filled with learning, growth, and Redbird pride. Welcome back, Redbirds!

Dear McMullen Families, To help ease the flow of traffic during Open House, we're again offering an optional school supply drop-off opportunity ahead of time! 📍 Where: McMullen Elementary Gym 📅 When: August 11th–14th 🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Families are welcome to stop by during these hours to drop off their child's school supplies. Our staff will make sure everything gets delivered to the correct classroom before the first day of school. Of course, if dropping off supplies during Open House works better for you, that's absolutely fine too! This is just an added option for your convenience. We can't wait to welcome everyone back soon—thank you for partnering with us for a smooth and successful start to the school year!

📚✨ Kindergarten Bootcamp Starts Soon! ✨📚 Just a reminder that Tuesday kicks off our Kindergarten Bootcamp that runs from August 4–7 (8:30–11:30 a.m.), students will enjoy a fun-filled week designed to build confidence, make new friends, and prepare for a successful first year of school. Drop off will be at the McMullen front entrance, student pick up will be from the west front doors that exit the cafeteria. During Bootcamp, students will: 🍎 Learn school and classroom expectations 🔤 Practice letter names, sounds, and number skills ✂️ Build fine and gross motor skills 📖 Be introduced to sight words 🎉 And have plenty of fun along the way! Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. We can’t wait to welcome our newest Redbirds and kick off an amazing school year! 💙💛

What an incredible McMullen Field Day! From the games and laughter to the teamwork and school spirit, it was the perfect way to wrap up an amazing school year. Big congratulations to Kinsley for earning the title of Assistant Principal for the Day after winning the McMullen Parents Association Carnival raffle! 🎉 Kinsley jumped right into the role by helping with morning announcements, participating in classroom check-ins, and assisting during lunch duty. She did an outstanding job showing leadership, responsibility, and school spirit throughout the day! Thank you to the McMullen Parents Association for creating such a fun opportunity for our students. We loved having Kinsley as part of the leadership team today!

🎉 Our McMullen 3rd grade students earned their very own Greek Olympics celebration! After showing outstanding effort and perseverance during state testing, students enjoyed a day filled with fun, teamwork, and friendly competition inspired by the ancient Olympic Games. We are so proud of the hard work, determination, and positive attitudes our students demonstrated throughout testing season. Way to go, 3rd grade — you earned it!

We are proud to recognize our April Redbirds of the Month at McMullen! These outstanding students have consistently demonstrated what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe in our school community.

From showing kindness to classmates, taking ownership of their learning, and making positive choices each day, these students truly represent the best of what it means to be a Redbird.

Our 3rd grade students in Mrs. Spencer’s class had an exciting day exploring STEM learning in a whole new way! 🚀 Using VR headsets, students were able to immerse themselves in interactive experiences, while Ozobots helped bring coding and problem-solving to life in a fun and engaging way. It’s always incredible to see our students thinking critically, collaborating, and embracing new technology! A big thank you to Mrs. Seboe for introducing these innovative tools and creating such a meaningful learning opportunity for our students. Your efforts are making a lasting impact! 💡

What a fantastic performance by our kindergarten students in The Three Little Pigs: A Nursery Rhyme Adventure! 🐷🎶

Our youngest learners truly shined on stage—singing, acting, and bringing so much joy and energy to the performance. It was wonderful to see their hard work come to life and to share such a special moment with our families.

A huge shoutout to our incredible kindergarten team for the time, creativity, and dedication they poured into making this experience so memorable for our students and their families. Your commitment made all the difference!

We had a very special leader in the building last week! 🎉 Congratulations to Elsie, who earned the title of Assistant Principal of the Day by raising the most money for our American Heart Association fundraiser! Elsie stepped into her leadership role with confidence and enthusiasm—helping with morning announcements, checking in with teachers, greeting students, and even supervising lunch. She did an outstanding job and showed what it means to lead with kindness and responsibility. We are so proud of you, Elsie! Thank you for making a difference in our school and supporting such an important cause. 👏

Our McMullen 1st graders stole the show with their adorable and energetic performance of “Bunnies! The Musical”! 🐰🎭 From the catchy songs to the confident smiles, our students truly shined on stage. Their hard work, teamwork, and enthusiasm were on full display! A big thank you to our teachers and staff for making this special experience possible, and to our families for your continued support. We are so proud of our young performers!

🎨 Welcome to the McMullen Museum of Art! 🎨 Our hallways have been transformed into a vibrant gallery showcasing the incredible creativity of our students from Kindergarten through 3rd grade! Each color represents a grade level, and every piece tells a unique story of imagination, effort, and pride. From bold patterns and seasonal scenes to heartfelt drawings and colorful designs, our students continue to inspire us every day. 💫 Take a moment to stop, look closely, and celebrate the talent walking our halls—because at McMullen Elementary, every child is an artist. 🖌️

Our Read-a-Thon winners cashed in their reward in the best way possible this week, by throwing pies at Sergeant Kick and Mr. Brumfield! 🥧😄 With Superintendent Mrs. Allerding cheering them on in a full chicken costume (yes, really 🐔👏), the energy was high and the laughs were nonstop. A special shoutout to McMullen Parents Association Vice President Tyler McCaskey for bravely volunteering for a “demonstration target” and allowing students to observe proper pie-throwing technique. Now THAT’s community involvement! Way to go to all of our readers—you earned every second of this unforgettable celebration! 📚🎉

🌸🎶 What an incredible celebration of learning and talent! 🎶🍂 Last week, our 2nd graders took us on a musical journey through the Seasons of the Year, and they absolutely shined! From the bright energy of spring to the cozy spirit of winter, each performance was filled with enthusiasm, creativity, and joy. Our students worked so hard to learn their songs, movements, and lines—and it showed in every moment on stage. We are so proud of their confidence and teamwork!
